For those of you who have been to the Mas-O-Menos race in Terlingua, TX, you are likely smiling as you remember the good times or maybe grimacing a little as you recall the pain. The race itself is a fun fast pedal through the desert with a grueling climb at the end of the 30-mile trail. If you're really loco, you do it twice.

The pain you felt was likely induced by the climb but there is also the chance that it was induced by the Tito's Vodka, one of the race sponsors. The smile on the other hand is probably the result of the perfect mixture of racing, riding, family, food, parties and great people in an incredible setting.

The race couldn't have had a better start with the sun just popping over the Chisos Mountains to warm everyone up for the ride. It was such a nice morning that TCCers Kelly and Collins Bishop decided they'd rock the IMBA jersey on the course. And represent they did as Kelly spent some smiling moments on the podium!

Jason and I (Anna), on the other hand, had raced each other on the course the day before and decided to kick it at the festival, take pictures and make sure that everyone got their bottle of funny colored jet fuel after the first lap. We also helped out with the kids race and rode sweep for some wicked speedy little groms. The future is fast watch out!

And of course, Mas O Menos is not complete without some delicious local food, a giant bonfire and good music. The festivities were a hit as racers hobbled around the dance floor on legs of jelly and Jeff Renfrow, one of the race coordinators busted out the biggest marshmallows I've ever seen. I suppose they had to be large to fit in with the fire which may have been visible from orbit. Everything's bigger in Texas right?

The whirlwind of Terlingua fun slowed to a breeze as we stuffed our lives back into the Subaru and headed west towards more adventures in the Dominican Republic while Kelly and Collins ventured deeper into Texas for an exciting weekend of trail work and rides. Mas o Menos is one of those races that has something for everyone and you should certainly make the trip. The race coordinators have it dialed, the volunteers clearly love what they do and the entire event is seamless.
