Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew visits San Luis Obispo

The City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation partnered with the Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers (CCMB) to host Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew leaders, Nat and Rachael Lopes, in early March.

The Crew assessed trail at San Luis Obispo City parks, Santa Margerita Lake County Park, and Montana de Oro State Park. Friday's trail forum brought together land managers from city, county, state, and federal lands, as well as local equestrian groups, CCMB, and the Sierra Club to discuss trail issues, solutions and ideas for the future. The weekend culminated in a Trailbuilding School that was attended by 65 volunteers who put in a combined 200 hours of volunteer work at Irish Hills City Park.

In addition to the synergy and partnerships created over the weekend, a amazing turnout of volunteers, and riding great trails with breathtaking views, Nat and Rachael got to witness their first bike-sumo event at "the happening" in downtown San Luis Obispo.

Special thanks to John and Christi Cutter, Mike Bettencourt, Brandi Diffenderfer, and Kathy Longacre of San Luis Obisipo Parks Open Spacke and Trails Foundation.
