After meeting with South Florida Water Management District and St. Lucie County officials, Bill Klausmeyer leads the Trail Care Crew on a tour of the four-mile Fort Pierce Trail - a flowing gem.
Fort Pierce Trail
The Sunday trifecta featured four miles at the Fort Pierce Trail, nine miles at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, and six miles at Dyer County Park.
South Shore built structures
The "South Shore" built structures to add technical features to the elevationally-challenged sandy areas. Just always make sure to leave an alternate line.
Dyer Park's detailed signage
Dyer Park's detailed signage warns of everything from steep grades to alligators. With trails maintained by the Palm Beach Mountain Bike Association, the park demonstrates a great partnership between mountain bikers, the Solid Waste Department, and Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation.

In March Aaryn Kay and Scott Linnenburger of the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew paid a visit to the Treasure Coast Cycling Association - Airborne Division, Club Scrub, and Palm Beach Mountain Bike Association in eastern Florida. The three groups are working overtime to bring more singletrack opportunities to this rapidly growing region of Florida's Atlantic coast.

Vast wetland areas contiguous to relict sand dunes have dealt Florida trailbuilders a tough hand here. The solution to both these problems is often the rolling boardwalk trail. Think South Shore!

Scott and Aaryn met with club leaders and local land management agencies - including St. Lucie County Parks and the South Florida Water Management Division - to discuss mountain bike access issues in the area. Then everyone teamed up for a weekend IMBA Trailbuilding School at Jonathan Dickinson State Park. The weekend culminated on Sunday with the Treasure Coast Trifecta Ride: a triple doozy riding day incorporating Jonathan Dickinson State Park, the Fort Pierce Bike Trail, and Dyer County Park.

Thanks to Bill Klausmeyer, Steve Buscina, Richard Gallant and all three clubs for a great weekend.
