Building switchback

This switchback is part of the alternate route to triple falls. The crib wall was constructed of locally harvested locust and pinned toghether with rebar. Fill was collected from rootballs of fallen trees and from the gravel berm on the side of the nearby road. John, the land manager, was delighted that we had found a use for the gravel as the road needed to be debermed anyway. Over 30 wheelbarrow loads went behind the cribwall to form the deck for the rolling crown switchback.
