We meet at the Miwok Stables at the entrance to the Golden Gate National Recreation area. In the first hour we introduce the kids to the particulars of the ride and inform them that the ride is part of Take A Kid Mountain Biking day. We show the IMBA Wild Willya cartoons, fit the kids to their bikes, helmets, do some practice riding, etc. We spend the next several hours mountain biking in one of the most beautiful locations of the Bay Area and wind up at the Pacific Ocean where we have lunch. At the end of the ride we sit in a cookie circle and talk about the day's experience. We will try to arrange for a ranger to meet us at the beginning of the ride to talk about our national parks and the significance of the day.

Food, drink and potentially a free KIDS raffle -swag donated by local bike shops We can decide specific routes (try to accomodate all levels) but think will be at least two groups 1) Trailer Crash Kids - Those pulling trailers and those seeking "flat" terrain. Mix of paved and dirt at Peters Canyon. I can lead this group pulling my son in trailer. 2) Groms with Moms and/or Pops - Everyone else heads to Peters Canyon for loop(s). Sounds like a few are very familiar with this park so hoping at least 2 adults can take on leading and sweep. btw- if you can pull trailer in peters feel free to join this ride 3) there is another local park that is a bit more tech for those riders wtih older kids (santiago oaks) As expected everyone's safety particularly that of the children is most important. It is your sole responsibility to watch out for your child, guests and yourself. All young riders must be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian. Please make sure you and your child has the proper safety and repair gear (e.g. helmet, pads, spare tubes, etc), food/water and properly working bike or trailer. Please also step up to protect all others who you think may need some support along the way. In regard to picnic/bbq I will bring EZ up, tailgate BBQ (small propane webber) and will bring burgers, buns, condiments for all. I ask that others please volunteer to bring some other stuff such as plates, napkins, drinks, as well as any other food items cold or for the BBQ. Sound fair? Access4Bikes and Marin County Open Space District are partnering on a ride in the Rush Creek Preserve. Ride will be led by an MCOSD ranger who will give a nature talk and provide some history of the preserve. The ride profile is relatively flat and will be suitable for kids from 5 and up, including first time mountain bikers and parents with tag-a-longs. Kids must be supervised/ ride with a parent or guardian. Everyone riding (kids and adults) must have properly working fat-tire bikes and wear helmets. Corriganville Park is a great place to ride, with everything from slick rock type terrain to easy pedaling fire road. Many bikes have been tested and demoed here, and the park has restrooms, picnic facilities, and historical plaques which relate the many western films made here in the early part of the twentieth century.

Scouts from other scouting units in Jacksonville as well as non-scouts are all welcome to join. Kids must be supervised/ ride with a parent or guardian. Everyone riding (kids and adults) must have properly working fat-tire bikes and wear helmets. Consider wearing comfortable clothing, and sunscreen/ insect repellant. Bring bike bottles; we will have plenty of cold water and Gatorade at the start of the ride. We have Shelter 5 at Hanna Park reserved as base camp. Registration starts at 9:15AM. All non-Pack 182 riders will need to sign a Ride Liability Waiver. Then, equipment checks, a short talk/ safety briefing, and a group photo. Be ready to roll at 10AM. For family members who would rather wait at the shelter while the rest of their party is on 2 wheels, there is good fishing in the adjacent lake, a beach volleyball court next to our shelter, and a Frisbee golf course a short walk away. Length of ride to depend on participants, weather and state of construction of new work on the trail. If wet will ride the limestone rail-trail parts to the west, if dry will ride the dirt trail parts to the east.

This is our first time hosting this event. We hope to have the local police bike patrol on hand to ride along and give a short talk about bike safety on streets. The Midcoast Maine Chapter of the New England MTB Association is planning mountain biking events to be held in conjunction with the Ragged mountain Fall Festival. Events include a pump track time trial and demonstration, group rides on our newly signed trails, dual slalom fun race on the main slope and a possible free lift serviced mountain biking as well as a potential trials demonstration. Our local junior bike league was a huge success this summer having more than 70 kids participating. We are hoping to keep the enthusiasm for mountain biking rolling with this event.
