IMBA trail guru Joey Klein is heading back to Australia this October. During his stay he will teach a five-day trail workshop in the rural New South Wales town of Tumbarumba. Delegates from across Australia and New Zealand will attend the workshop. Joey will also meet with government officials in Brisbane to discuss a proposed urban mountain bike park. Finally, Joey will travel to Tasmania to work with officials to create riding opportunities near Mt. Wellington and on the island's northwest coast.
Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew leaders Mark Schmidt and Lora Woolner spent early September in Whistler, British Columbia, working with the local IMBA affiliate club and researching cutting-edge freeride construction techniques. This information will be used in the new IMBA trailbuilding book, due out later this year. Whistler's mountain bike park is an amazing freeride success story that attracts more than 1,000 people on some days. The park has a professional dedicated trailbuilding crew to maintain and develop the mountain's trail system.
Speaking of British Columbia, fires this summer forced a closure of all forests, severely hampering mountain biking in several areas.
