The first IMBA Epic celebration of the year took place at Alafia River State Park near Tampa Bay, Florida. IMBA affiliate S.W. Association of Mountain Pedalers (www.swampclub.org) hosted the Epic weekend. Highlights included building a one-mile section of new trail, riding tight, twisty singletrack through dense forests during the Epic ride, and enjoying tasty strawberries, a local delicacy. "I was constantly reminded throughout the weekend that Florida trails are not flat," said IMBA staffer Brandon Dwight, who attended the celebration. "You don't need big mountains to have great mountain biking."

IMBA appointed two new regional representatives in the southeast. In Kentucky, Scott Cropper ( ) was assigned the position Eastern Kentucky IMBA rep, joining Western Kentucky IMBA rep Don Vogel ( ) to ensure solid mountain biker representation in the Bluegrass State.

Meanwhile, in Florida, Bill Klausmeyer ( ) joins Wes Eubank ( ) as an IMBA rep. Bill will cover the southern part of Florida, while Wes will represent the northern and central region.

In March, the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew joined forces with Louisiana mountain bikers and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to open the first official mountain bike trail on public land in the New Orleans metro area. More info: .
