Board Bios

Hill Abell, Austin, Texas. Owner and operator of two successful Bicycle Sport Shops in Austin, Hill provides a passionate voice for Texas mountain bike advocacy and alternative transportation issues. As IMBA's president, he oversees several board committees. Hill received the 2001 Bicycle Retailer Advocacy Award.

John Bliss, Boulder, Colorado. John is the privacy strategist for Entity Analytic Solutions, a unit within IBM's Software Group. He has worked as a lawyer and lobbyist in Washington, DC. Bliss has served on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and was Chief Counsel for United States Senator Hank Brown. An active mountain biker racer, Bliss resides in Colorado, and competes in regional and national expert-class events.

Elayna Caldwell, Aptos, California. Elayna is the Marketing Manager for FOX Racing Shox. She has worked in the action sports industry for more than 10 years. Caldwell serves on the Board of Directors for the NorCal High School Mountain Bike League, and works with the Outdoor Industries Women's Coalition.

Blair Clark, Ketchum, Idaho. Blair is senior vice president of marketing and sales at Smith Optics. He spent 13 years working at a variety of bicycle shops, directed business affairs for Specialized USA, and was president of Giro Sport Design. Clark currently serves on the board of directors for the Outdoor Industry Association. He recently founded the Paul David Clark Fund within Bikes Belong as a means of promoting bicycle safety and awareness. The native Californian now lives in Idaho.

Tom Clyde, Woodland, Utah. Tom, who joined IMBA's board in January 2002, is a professional writer and former city attorney for Park City, Utah. Tom and fellow IMBA board member Jan Wilking established the Mountain Trails Foundation in 1994. This model non-profit organization has developed a world-class, shared-use trails system in and around Park City. Tom serves on IMBA's Advocacy and Summit board committees.

Steve Flagg, Bloomington, Minnesota. Steve is founder and co-owner of Quality Bicycle Products in Bloomington, Minnesota. QBP, which Flagg started in 1981, is the largest parts and accessories distributor in the cycling industry. Flagg and QBP have been consistent, generous supporters of both on- and off-road cycling advocacy.

Jay Franklin, Powder Springs, Georgia. Jay is a founder and past president of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA), an outstanding Southeast regional advocacy group. Jay has helped the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service and Georgia state agencies develop a variety of innovative mountain bike projects. He serves as a NORBA trustee and an American Trails board member

Krisztina Holly, Los Angeles, California. Krisztina is a long-time mountain bike advocate, leader, and past president of the New England Mountain Bike Association. An engineer and accomplished entrepreneur, Krisztina has served as the executive director of the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and currently is the vice provost and executive director of the University of Southern California's Stevens Institute for Innovation.

Woody Keen, Cedar Mountain, North Carolina. Woody has been a leading mountain bike advocate for more than a decade. Keen and his wife JoJo were instrumental in creating the top-notch mountain bike trail system in the Dupont (North Carolina) State Forest, where he continues to serve as the volunteer trails coordinator. Keen is co-owner of a full-service trailbuilding company, Trail Dynamics. He has a special interest in creating sustainable freeriding opportunities.

Chris Kegel, Glendale, Wisconsin. Chris owns five Wheel & Sprocket bicycle stores in Wisconsin. He also serves on the board of directors of the League of American Bicyclists and the Bikes Belong Coalition. He's a former president of WORBA, the Wisconsin Off-Road Bicycle Association. A passionate bicycle commuter, Chris helps connect IMBA with bicycle businesses.

Janet O'Connell, Toronto, Ontario. Janet is the executive director of the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada. She previously served as director of strategic initiatives for the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers, and has substantial experience in the advertising and publishing industries. O'Connell is a current board member for the Canadian Association of Exhibition Managers. The first Canadian to serve on the IMBA board, she enjoys exploring trails with her two children.
